Why Matcha.

Matcha (or 抹茶 because I’m a huge language nerd…) you have probably heard about it; actually, since you came upon my blog you are probably a huge fan of it. But in case you have not or are a bit shaky on what matcha actually is, in a nutshell : it’s green tea. Finely ground powder of specially grown and processed green tea. It has its origins in China where its preparation and consumption took part of the rituals of Buddhists monks. But it is Japan that has popularized it to the rest of the world. ♡ ありがとうございます!

Nowadays not only is it drank as hot tea but it has been incorporated into cold beverages, cake, ice cream and a variety of sweets. I enjoy almost any form it comes in but the traditional and healthier unsweetened cup of tea remains my precious morning ritual. Topping off its delicious taste Matcha is rich in antioxidants and makes a great clean source of energy. I will not swear by it but it is also said to accelerate your metabolism and is therefore used for weight loss.

Now, what does Matcha have to do with a Travel blog ? Nothing! 🙂  but I have often found my best travel moments consist of a long trek, a nice warming up hike, and a beautiful view enjoying a hot cup of tea. It doesn’t have to be matcha, but that’s my preferred choice.  If you find yourself traveling somewhere with mountains, do yourself a favor and go climb one; heck, if not then just find the highest spot you can get to and breath the air at the top, look at the view and smile.
